Sweet, tangy, sticky and oh so good homemade BBQ sauce that's ready for you to slather on everything and enjoy guilt free! This is the best healthy BBQ sauce recipe!
Preheat a sauce pan over medium heat and cook the chopped onion for 7 to 10 minutes until its starting to caramelize in the pan and has a caramel color.
Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute, stir constantly so the garlic does not burn. The add 1/4 cup of water.
Add the remaining ingredients: Tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, molasses, paprika, chili powder, soy sauce, light brown sugar, and salt and pepper. Add another 1/2 cup of water at this time. Stir well to combine.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes stirring occasionally.
Let cool, and then add the sauce to a blender or food processor. Mix well, pour into an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.
