Healthy Ground Turkey Sloppy Joes (Manwich Copycat)

Equipment

  • 1 Large Skillet
  • 1 Small Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. Lean Ground Turkey Or Ground Beef
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic Fresh or Minced
  • 8 oz. Tomato Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup No sugar option preferred for lower sugar content
  • 2-4 tbsp. Brown Sugar Light or Dark Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Prepared Mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
  • Black Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Start browning the ground turkey in a skillet over medium high heat. Once it starts cooking, add in the garlic. 
  • While the ground turkey is browning, mix the remaining ingredients for the sloppy joe sauce in a small mixing bowl.
  • Once the ground turkey has finished browning and cooked all the way through, drain any excess fat.
  • Dump the homemade sloppy joe sauce into the skillet and turn the heat to simmer.
  • Continue to simmer for at least 10 minutes.
  • Serve over buns, and enjoy!!
