Can you make this dish spicier?
ABSOLUTELY!! Now my husband and kids are not spicy people at all. But if I had it my way? I’d load this baby up.
Here are some great options that I think would be super yummy in this easy recipe. Jalapenos, red pepper flakes, paprika, some siracha, maybe some hot sauce.
Those are just a few ideas and will add tons of flavor, but I’m sure you spicy lovers can get creative.

How about making this on the sweeter side?
Now we’re talking. This dish is great to add some sweetness into it, especially around the holiday season. Ahh, think a cold winter night with some hot apple cider.
Hell, I will eat things on the sweeter side 365 days a year, who are we kidding?
To make this sweeter, you can add maple syrup or honey. With the sweet potato and turkey combo, this would be delicious.
Some other add in options for this easy meal:
- Black beans or pinto beans
- Corn
- Swap the ground turkey for some sausage
- Rice
- Top with some Plain Greek yogurt for additional protein
All make a great option and create a delicious balanced meal with so much flavor!
Sometimes I’ll be sneaky and add even more veggies in this pan. I love keeping baby spinach on hand.
All I do is throw it in my food processor so its finely chopped, and I throw it in a bunch of dishes.
Its a great way to sneak some extra greens into your dishes without hearing your kiddos moan and groan.
If you don’t have one, I HIGHLY recommend grabbing one off amazon, I use it all the time. Here’s the one I use linked right here.
