Whoever said you can’t have delicious burgers while counting macros or living a healthy lifestyle?

Using ground turkey and cooking it to absolute perfection in the air fryer is easiest and preferred way to get your burger and health on at the same time. WINNING.

My husband and teenager are HUGE burger lovers. They love their beef. What man doesn’t love beef burgers? Totally understandable.

Normally I’d get my Jennie-O turkey burgers and have them fry one of them up for me on the grill and call it a day.

The problem was they shrink, they are super expensive, and to be honest I really really really dislike buying separate things just because I prefer to be heathier.

Air fryer turkey burgers are an easy meal to make that's perfect for those busy weeknights!

SO, my friends, I decided to venture out in creating my own turkey burger recipe, and here we are.

Made with very few ingredients that you already have on hand, my husband and teenager legit love these yummy turkey burgers and have actually asked for me to make them again, which in my book means its a keeper in those recipe and dinner rounds.

Why you’ll love this recipe for these easy air fryer turkey burgers:

  • Only 144 calories per burger, and 28 grams of protein (way healthier than a frozen turkey burger)
  • More cost efficient and family friendly
  • Minimal prep and effort required for a quick and easy meal during those busy weeknights

Steps to make healthy turkey burgers

Step 1

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl to make the burger mixture and mix well.

Note – I recommend refrigerating the meat mixture for 30 minutes (or longer) to help keep the shape of the burgers when forming.

Step 2

Preheat the air fryer temperature 360 degrees. Then form the turkey burger patties.

Note – I always put a small indent in the top to prevent the burger from shrinking.

Form the burger mixture into patties before placing in the air fryer.

Step 3

Once the air fryer has preheated, spray the tray or basket with a nonstick cooking spray.

Place patties in a single layer onto the tray or in the basket and cook for 15 minutes flipping over once halfway through. Be sure the internal temperature has reached 165 degrees.

Step 4

Remove from the air fryer and let cool. Place burger on your favorite bun, lettuce wrap, or into a burger salad and ENJOY!

Recipe Notes for air fryer turkey burgers

Can you make the turkey patties ahead?

Yes! Abso-freaking-lutely. Make up your burger patties. Use parchment paper and place onto a baking sheet. Lay the patties onto the baking sheet and place in the freezer.

Once the burgers are frozen, you can either wrap them individually with some plastic wrap, or you can place them into a large freezer bag together and just get out as you need them. They will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Frozen homemade turkey burgers will cook great in the air fryer as well, just add 3-5 minutes to your cook time. I love this option as a time saver.

What should I make as a side to go with these perfect turkey burgers?

Here are some of my favorite sides to try with your flavorful burger:

  • Sweet potato fries and regular French fries
  • Green salad
  • Corn on the cob
  • Roasted Potatoes

Top your delicious turkey burger with your favorite toppings on your favorite bun and enjoy!

Ways to eat these turkey burgers:

Grab your favorite burger buns, make into a wrap or a lettuce wrap, or create the perfect burger salad that is OH so filling.

Those burger salads are my favorite way to go. Talk about volume eating. I feel like I’m eating a mountain load not to mention getting in a ton of delicious veggies. So stinkin’ tasty and the best way in my opinion.

Speaking of that perfect burger salad. Load that baby up with all those favorite toppings. I’m talking, pickles, peppers, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, cheddar cheese, barbecue sauce, whatever your heart desires.

Dressing Options?

Well we talked about the perfect salad, so one might ask what do I use as a dressing? Y’all know I’m a sauce girl through and through.

That’s why I HAD to create the most perfect and delicious healthy big mac sauce. This stuff is LOADED with protein and so simple to make, its the perfect dressing and BAM, your eating a big mac.

Your gonna love this stuff, I promise. If your not a big mac fan, grab some mustard and sugar free ketchup and your golden!
