Recipe Notes, Tips & Tricks for Low Sugar BBQ Sauce:
Sweetness Factor
Don’t like your sauce sweet?
Skip the brown sugar all together for a less sweet sauce. You can always add it in if you decide you want to. Add more for an even sweeter sauce. Just be mindful of the sugar intake.
Love a good Honey BBQ Sauce?
I love honey BBQ, who doesn’t? Swap out the brown sugar for the same amount of honey (even swap) to give yourself a honey BBQ sauce, YUM. Best part? It will still be a delicious healthy sauce.
Feelin’ Spicy?
Add some cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes. You can even add a touch of hot sauce if your up for it. Just be sure not to overdo it. I always add less, then add a little more if needed. Sounds like the perfect sauce combination to me.
Love a good smoky flavor?
Add in the liquid smoke – careful though! Only add in 1/4 tsp. Or you can add more paprika for the same result.
