My recommendations on helping you meet your macro goals, and other recipe notes for this skinny buffalo dip:
chicken
You can use either canned chicken or leftover chicken that’s shredded, whichever is easier and up to your preference.
Obviously, the canned chicken is SUPER simple and easy to grab. However, shredded chicken can also be just as easy.
Whenever I’m at the grocery store, I always grab pre shredded rotisserie chicken to have on hand for simple recipes such as this one to throw together quickly.
Just note, that whichever you choose with provide a different texture depending on how finely shredded the chicken is. I used the canned chicken for the nutrition info in this healthier buffalo chicken dip recipe.
plain greek yogurt
I recommend nonfat for macro purposes, but just note that the nonfat will cause the leftovers to be runnier because of the water content. You will have to mix well before reheating this dish.
shredded cheese
If you want freshly shredded, by all means, go for it! I LOVE freshly shredded.
For simplicity, I go for the bagged. If you want even a lower fat content, choose the fat free version which is included in the nutrition info for this recipe.
This buffalo chicken dip with greek yogurt recipe calls for 1/4 cup, but feel free to add extra cheese if your feeling it!!
cream cheese
You are using so little in this recipe, that the kind you use truly doesn’t matter. BUT if your counting macros, every little bit counts, right?
Whenever I have a recipe that uses cream cheese, I always go for Neufchâtel cream cheese, but any low fat cream cheese will work.
franks red hot sauce
Literally the best tangy buffalo sauce ever. If you want to pour until your heart desires, by all means. The more the merrier. I use 2 tablespoons in this easy buffalo chicken dip recipe and its medium heat for reference.
Full recipe for a lighter version of buffalo chicken dip with canned chicken:
step 1
Grab a microwave and oven safe medium bowl to use to make it easy for clean up. Measure out all ingredients aside from the chicken and dump into the baking dish or bowl.
Step 2:
If using canned chicken, drain the chicken well. Add the chicken into the bowl and mix everything together well. It’s the perfect balance of all ingredients, and tastes delicious.
Step 3:
Heat the dip. You can use a microwave or an oven, whichever your in the mood for!! If using the microwave, cover, and heat for 3 minutes. If you decide to use the oven, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Once the oven has preheated, heat the dip for 10 minutes until the cheese has melted and the dip is bubbly.
Step 4:
Serve with your favorite veggies such as mini bell peppers, celery sticks, carrot sticks, tortilla chips, pita chips, over salad, whatever your heart desires and ENJOY!!
How to store the leftovers of this healthy buffalo dip:
Store the leftovers in an airtight container that’s microwavable. When ready to eat, simply cover and reheat in the microwave. For best results, consume leftovers within 2-3 days
